THE TRANSMISSION Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that there would be massive
load-shedding in the next five weeks as the agency upgrades some of its
facilities.
Largely
to be affected are some customers under Ikeja Electric’s network.
Speaking
on the development, Chief Technical Coordinator, Ikeja Electric, Mr. Sunday
Oyewole, said the TCN is making this disclosure as it plans to upgrade TI
Ejigbo and T3 Alimosho Power Transformers from 30mva to 100mva. Adding that the upgrade, which began on Monday, would last for five weeks, Oyewole stressed that some customers under Ikeja Electric Plc would experience increased load-shedding activity.
He also gave details of the project plan indicating that TCN, in order to minimise impact on communities, will effect the upgrade one after the other, upgrading T1 Ejigbo first before work on T3 commences”.
Oyewole noted that areas such as Oke-Afa, Shasha, Ipaja are major areas that will be affected as the TCN will use all channels to mitigate the impact of the upgrade on customers.
